Burkley Named Angola Firefighter of the Year

Kevin Burkley, a firefighter with the Angola Volunteer Fire Department, was named Firefighter of the Year for his years of commitment to the department and community.


According to fire officials, the award recognizes Burkley's consistent effort both on and off emergency scenes. The award recognizes members who continuously support their fellow firefighters, participate in training, and represent the department in community events.


Department chiefs stated that being a firefighter entails more than just responding to calls. It takes collaboration, long hours, and a strong dedication to public service.


Throughout the year, Burkley displayed professionalism, dependability, and a willingness to help wherever possible. Whether on the fireground, attending drills, or supporting department operations, he has demonstrated the ideals that the department strives to uphold.
