Members of the Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department practiced ice rescue at Spy Pond on Sunday morning (March 1) to prepare for cold-water situations during the winter season.
Firefighters made a hole in the ice to practice rescuing a mock victim from the sea under controlled conditions. The training emphasized safe rescue procedures, collaboration, and the right use of equipment during ice and cold-water emergencies.
The Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps was also present throughout the exercise to provide rehabilitative assistance to firefighters taking part in the training.
