March 7, 2026 — Members of the Carlton Fire Company and Carlton Fire Co. Recreation Hall took advantage of a late-winter day to conduct hands-on ice water rescue training.
Firefighters practiced deploying ropes, utilizing flotation equipment, and operating in specialized cold-water suits while working on the frozen surface. The drill allowed responders to rehearse techniques used to safely reach and remove victims who have fallen through the ice.
Training exercises like this help firefighters prepare for emergencies on frozen lakes and waterways, where quick action and proper equipment are critical for survival in extremely cold conditions.
