February 15, 2026 — Members of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department participated in an ice rescue training exercise alongside local EMS and police personnel.
The hands-on training took place on the frozen lake where responders practiced techniques for safely approaching and rescuing victims who have fallen through the ice. Crews utilized rescue ropes, flotation gear, and specialized cold-water suits while working from a controlled opening cut into the ice.
Ice rescue training is critical during the winter months, preparing responders to quickly and safely assist victims in one of the most dangerous rescue environments.
