February 16, 2026 — Members of the Cronomer Valley Fire Department gathered for their weekly Monday night drill, focusing on team building and improving dexterity with their battery-operated HURST Jaws of Life.
During the exercise, firefighters were challenged to carefully close the hydraulic tool and transport it while holding an egg without cracking it. The drill required steady control and coordination, simulating the delicate precision sometimes needed when operating rescue tools during vehicle extrications.
While a few members successfully completed the challenge, firefighters noted that the task proved to be more difficult than it appeared.
Cronomer Valley holds regular training drills on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7–9 p.m., offering members the opportunity to sharpen skills, build teamwork, and prepare for emergency responses.
