Kinderhook, NY — February 9th —On Monday night, members of the Niverville Fire Department, Inc. conducted an ice rescue training simulation on Kinderhook Lake with visiting firefighters from the Tri-Village Fire Department and the Chatham Fire Department.

To mimic cold-water crises, firefighters executed more than twenty rescue scenarios that included rope systems, a rescue sled, and stokes baskets. The training ended with a timed exercise in which all teams successfully extracted a simulated victim from the water in 17 seconds or less.

Officials also revealed that four new members had been added to the department's ice rescue team, increasing the total to fifteen certified rescuers.
