Crews Teach Fire Prevention at Norwich YMCA

Norwich, NY — February 19th — Members of the Norwich Fire Department visited the Norwich Family YMCA to provide a fire safety presentation focused on prevention and emergency awareness.


During the visit, firefighters educated the youth participants on basic fire protection techniques and exhibited the protective equipment they use when responding to fires. The lecture also allowed guests to see the equipment up close and learn how it protects firemen during emergencies.


According to department officials, public education is a vital component of the fire service's job, particularly when teaching younger generations about safety and emergency preparedness. Firefighters praised the YMCA for hosting the event and giving them the opportunity to engage with the community.
