The Fredonia Fire Department stated that Engine 16 has been formally activated to protect the Fredonia and Pomfret response areas. The new apparatus replaces Engine 12, a 33-year-old pumper, and was built to satisfy the department's operational requirements. Engine 16 is equipped with a Rosenbauer COMMANDER chassis, a Rosenbauer EXT body, a Rosenbauer Logic Control System, a Rosenbauer N55 pump with a flow rate of 1,500 gallons per minute, and a 1,000-gallon tank.

The engine also has low hose beds and specialized storage layouts to improve firefighter accessibility and efficiency during operations. Department officials thanked Mayor Ferguson and the Village Board of Trustees for supporting the purchase. Special recognition was also given to Empire Emergency Apparatus Inc. and David Mangus for their assistance throughout the project.
