Ithaca, NY — February 17th — Firefighters Bardo and Whitney were honored by the Ithaca Fire Department, located at 310 W Green St., for completing 30 years of service. Currently assigned to the department's truck company, both firemen assist with ladder operations, ventilation, search, and other duties during structural fire situations. They have responded to thousands of emergency calls in the City of Ithaca over the course of three decades, including fires, rescues, alarms, and medical situations.

During training and everyday shifts, both members frequently impart their knowledge to less experienced firemen in addition to their operational responsibilities. Senior firefighters are crucial in supporting department operations and serving as mentors to new recruits. The milestone was recognized by department authorities as an indication of ongoing commitment to community service and public safety.
