Engine-Tanker 28-2 Serves Primary Response Zones

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The Greenfield Fire District highlighted Engine-Tanker 28-2, a 2016 KME apparatus that acts as the first-due engine for fires in Zones 26, 27, and 29. The device can hold 2,500 gallons of water and has a pump with a flow rate of 1,250 gpm. One driver, one officer, and four firefighters are standard staffing levels.

ETA 28-2 also carries a 2,500-gallon portable drop tank, which is used during tanker shuttle operations. Crews deploy the tank on the scene, discharge the apparatus's water supply, and return to a fill point while other engines draw from the portable tank. The apparatus also has a fully enclosed pump panel design, which enhances performance and operator safety during firefighting operations.
