HOMER, NY — March 5th — Members of the Homer Fire Department participated in a hands-on training exercise directed by Chief Lawrence, which emphasized collaboration and technical rescue skills.

During the practice, Chief Lawrence designed a "game board" training scenario in which firemen employed airbags, hydraulic spreaders, a hand jack, and cribbing to carefully move a lacrosse ball through a maze. The practice requires personnel to work together while using controlled lifting and stabilization techniques often utilized in rescue missions. Department members praised Chief Lawrence for hosting the instructive and team-building training event.
