RAVENA, NY — February 28th — Ravena Fire Department workers recently received training in search and rescue operations, an essential activity undertaken during structural fires.

During the simulation, firefighters used hand equipment to locate potential victims in simulated fire situations ranging from light smoke to zero visibility. Crews worked as synchronized teams to search buildings room by room, emphasizing communication and accountability protocols.

Officials stated that search and rescue is still one of the top priority on the fireground, with the primary goal of discovering and removing victims as swiftly and securely as possible.
