Photo by RON JEFFERSIn a continuation of "bury the car," and during two 5-alarm fires going at the same time, North Hudson 1st Battalion Chief Kevin Cowan, using Car 9, got out of the way of incoming units by taking the sidewalk and some garbage. The chief's first in companies, at this fire on the 1000 block of Bergenline Avenue, Union City, included a North Hudson recall engine, Belleville Engine 2, Bloomfield Engine 3, Montclair Truck 1 and Secaucus Tower 2. City DPW workers cleared the street of garbage during the February 8th fire.
