Department Mourns Loss of 25-Year Fire Service Veteran

CRESTVIEW, FL — February 28th — Crestview Fire Department announced the passing of retired Battalion Chief James “Chris” Anderson, who served the department for 25 years before retiring in July 2023.

Anderson, often known as "Big Cat," was widely admired for his leadership, professionalism, and the close ties he developed with his fellow firefighters throughout his career. Colleagues stated he helped shape the department's culture and identity while mentoring newer firefighters.

Funeral services were performed on February 28th at Brackney Funeral Home, followed by a procession to Crowder Cemetery in Mossy Head, FL. The service was held with modified Level 3 Fire Department honors in appreciation of his years of service.
