During Black History Month, the Cape Coral Fire Department recognized Planning and Research Analyst Shautelle Burton in their "Who Are WEdnesday" spotlight. Burton is the department's first Planning and Research Analyst, responsible for assessing operational data to detect patterns, establish benchmarks, and assist strategic planning and budgeting.

Burton is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has been in Southwest Florida since 2011. Prior to joining the department, she worked for Comcast for 13 years as a Business Process Analyst, where she assisted in identifying data issues and improving operational performance.

Officials claimed her work will help the city make data-driven decisions as it grows. Burton intends to establish a solid basis for the position while also guiding long-term planning and operational preparation.
