Engine Crew Participates in Ropes and Rigging Training on Balliet Street

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Frackville, PA - Members of the crew traveled to Balliet Street for a hands-on ropes and rigging training session alongside their colleagues from GOOD WILL HOSE CO.#1 “DISTRICT 43,” Frackville, PA.

During the training, participants worked with prusiks, belay lines, haul lines, anchor points, and other essential rigging techniques. While these skills are not typically part of an engine company’s daily operations, they serve as valuable additions to the toolbox—especially during overlapping calls with truck and rescue companies.

The session ensured that crew members are now better prepared to assist effectively if the need arises.

They paid a special thank you to Kathleen and Joey from West End Fire & Rescue, Mahanoy City, PA, for generously sharing their time and expertise.
