At approximately 20:54 hours on Tuesday, February 14th, The Copiague Fire Department responded to a reported bedroom fire at 531 Oak Street. Upon the arrival of 1st Assistant Chief Daniel Broyles, he transmitted the working fire. Upon the arrival of Chief of The Department Kyle Miller he stated he had fire pushing out a 2 side window exposing to a dwelling. Engine 1-3-7 was the first responding engine and had a hydrant past the fire building, upon their arrival they hit the hydrant and put lines into operation. Upon the arrival of Ladder 1-6-4, they were put to work as an extra truck. The crew from the Lindenhurst Truck did a search inside of the exposure 2 house and threw ladders on both houses. Crews from Engines 1-3-7, 1-3-10, 1-3-9, and 1-11-2 stretched and operated a minimum of three handlines. The fire was contained to the main fire building with minor extension on the exposure house. One civilian was injured and transported to a local area hospital. At approximately 21:43 the under control (signal 4) was transmitted. Mutual aid consisted of the Lindenhurst Fire Department for the initial Rapid Intervention Team (1-6-4), the North Lindenhurst Fire Department for an Engine (1-11-2), the Amityville Fire Department for the second Rapid Intervention Team (1-1-5), and The North Amityville Fire Company for an ambulance to the scene. Units operated under the command of Chief of The Copiague Fire Department Kyle Miller (The 1-3-30). The cause of the fire is under investigation, and there were reported injuries.
