The Inlet Fire Department has taken delivery of a new Sutphen custom pumper to protect the center of the Adirondacks.

The Inlet Fire Department, being in the heart of the Adirondacks and in the lake region, keeps their department busy as visitors to the area flock during the colder months to snowmobile and enjoy New York’s snowy sports. Also, in the summertime the population swells in the small town as numerous vacationers come to camp in the great Adirondack mountains and enjoy the lake life.

The new Sutphen custom pumper features a Sutphen Monarch Chassis along with a Cummings 450 horsepower L9 engine to tackle the steepest roads of the Adirondacks. The engine is 31-feet long and 9-feet, 11-inches tall. The engine features a poly 1,500-gallon water tank with a single stage Hale QMAX 1,500 gallon-per-minute pump with a Hale Smartfoam system with a 20-gallon foam tank that is utilizing F-500 encapsulating agent. The new engine also has a heated pump panel as winter conditions in the great Northeast, especially in these areas, can commonly reach single digits with frequent snowstorms.

The engine features a full Whelen light package on board along with Firetech guardian elite 20K, 12 volt led surface mounted lights that can light up the entire scene to keep firefighters safe.
