DOWNS: One resident of a Bayonne dwelling was injured and transported to a local hospital as the result of a fire at  Mechanic St. and Prospect av., Oct. 27th.  The fire involved a dwelling and a garage, according to The Daily Dispatch.

               

UPS: Newly appointed firefighters in Mount Laurel are Andrew Hatzold, Dave Magill, Davon Wilkinson and Alex Ruffalo.  

               

DOWNS: A 3-alarm fire gutted an auto repair shop located at Route 46 and Richards av., Dover, Oct. 26th.  The shop is owned and operated by Dover Mayor James Dodd, according to the Morristown Daily Record.  

               

UPS: New firefighters in New Brunwick are: Daniel Aparicio, Xavier Cladd, Michael Cruz-Perez, Jordan Keefe and Bryan Latham, Jr.  

               

DOWNS: A family of five died as the result of a fire that involved an Emerson av. dwelling in Paterson, Halloween night. Three children, ages 7, 12 and 14, along with their parents died in the fire, according to the NY Post.  High winds were believed to have contributed to the severity of the fire.  In addition, a fire captain and firefighters were hospitalized.  

               

UPS: Carl Halpin has been appointed to the Jackson Fire Department. 

               

DOWNS: More than 100 people lost their homes after a fire raced through the Autum Ridge Apartment Complex in Gloucester Twp., Nov. 1st.  Police said four residents were injured,one critically.  A firefighter also sustained minor burns.  An EMS strike team was activated.  

               

UPS: Newly appointed firefighters in Vineland are Townsend Godfrey, Anthony Famiano, Blake Horton and Chase Hunzinger.  

                

DOWNS: An early morning fire tore through a single-family home in National Park, Nov. 2nd.  Firefighters faced hoarding conditions, which made access and suppression operations difficult.  Several area fire departments assisted at the scene, according to WTXF-TV.  

                

UPS: New firefighters in Hanover Township are William Villane, Tyler Shay and Justin Rice.  

                 

DOWNS: Four firefighters were injured operating at a vacant building fire on Cypress av. in Newark, Nov. 6th.  Officials said the firefighters were injured by a falling chimney.  They were taken to a local hospital and were in stable condition, according to News 12. 

                 

UPS: Jody Somers has been promoted to fire captain in Jackson.  

                 

DOWNS: A fire destroyed a “twin home” on Center St. in Westmont, Nov. 10th.  The first and second floors of the building were fully involved upon arrival of first responders, according to WPVI-TV.  

                 

UPS: The Jersey City Fire Foundation received a donation of four Husqvarna K970 rescue saws from the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Norfolk Southern Police Department.  They will be distributed to department rescue, ladder and squad companies. 

                 

DOWNS: A man suffered serious burns as the result of a fire on 9th St. in Camden, Nov. 12th.  The victim was transported to Jefferson Hospital Burn Unit, in Philadelphia, according to WPVI-TV.  

                  

UPS: On October 28th, the large 4-bay firehouse on Summit av., Jersey City, was filled to standing room only with active and retired firefighters, family and friends, to honor 3rd Battalion Chief Robert Forenza on his retirement after 45-years of service to the community.  Comments heard during the event included: “Always had your back, consistent leadership, asset to the city, managed people with compassion on the job and out in the field, always there to support his guys, can never be replaced,” and “a phone call away for advice.”
