This is an Images of America/ARC book, soft cover, measuring 6 ½-inches by 9 inches and has 127 pages. It has Acknowledgements, an Introduction, and In Memoriam page (listing 10 members who died in the line of duty) and five chapters ranging from the years 1862 to 2019. I was surprised to find out two things. The first is that the FDNY used a steam powered police boat in 1862. The second is that in 1875 they purchased their own boat, also a steam powered vessel. I had no idea that fireboats in New York City went back that far. The chapters have all black and white photos with information about them in various amounts of detail. There are photos of the boats operating at fires, a couple of historic landmark plaques, and even a photo of the Superpumper which was designed to bring fireboat capabilities on a land unit. Different angles are seen within the photos and different sizes of the boats are featured. If you have an interest in the FDNY and marine units, this is a book for you.
