Dedicated Firefighter Retires in Wood-Ridge
Photo by RON JEFFERSWood-Ridge ex Chief Elizabeth Ferry has retired after 27-years of service as a volunteer firefighter and emergency squad member.
After 27-years of service in Wood-Ridge and the South Bergen mutual aid groups, Elizabeth Ferry has retired from the Fire Department.
Ferry joined the W-RFD in 1994 and has held virtually every form of office in the department. Ferry served as the Chief of Department in 2019, and she was the first female to hold that office in the 124-year history of the Fire Department. In addition, she was also a captain with the EMS Emergency Squad.
Ex. Chief Ferry has played an integral part in the success of the Junior Firefighters Program. She also possessed active rolls in fit testing members, inspecting PPE and servicing pagers and radios.
Ex. Chief Ferry works full-time as a paramedic at University Hospital in Newark.
