How Is He Going To Use It?
Many times, we take things and events for granted but what happens when we get reminded how truly precious life is. I write this on an anniversary of what would have been my death.
I was brought to the hospital and had to have emergency surgery, later I would find out that I made it to the hospital with two hours left to live. That was what man had to say but not God.
I had people who were brought into my life that took care of me, life some firefighters, my pastor and his family and some care givers that really helped. I even had a rehab nurse that kept telling me that I had to mourn my death, and she repeatedly told me that I died. In my eyes, I had a little problem that got straightened out. It's a matter of perspective. I did not hear the doctors telling me that I died.
While I was going into the operating room, I told God to leave me or take me, that my life was in His hands. But after the operation, my attitude changed and now I ask how He is going to use events in my life for His glory. We all go through tough times but many times we cannot see how God is going to use it in the future. We go through times that are uncomfortable and even painful, but we do not we the future and who we may help. We may work to assist people through their pain if they accept our assistance, which is not up to us, all we can do is offer.
Yes, after the operation, my life of service really opened up. I have had people tell me that I have lived seven lives worth, since the operation. I will admit that I have been taken to places that I would never have expected to be taken and served with places that I should never have been allowed through the doors.
I have had people brought into my life for reasons that I may or may not know why but I trust God with what He is doing in my life. I will admit that there are times that I still wonder why I am allowed to live but God ain't done with me yet.
I have learned how to appreciate many things in life, especially the little things in life, like seeing children smiling and playing, a beautiful sunrise or sunset or going to help someone in the worst weather. I am reminder many times that the heart is still beating and I am allowed another breath. I have a place to sleep and have another meal.
I have also learned to beware of certain people in my life, life doctors who just issue certain medication and do not care about the side effects that we have or the doctors that are out right bullies only concerned about billing people and not concerned about how much risk they put their patients in. And doctors that criticize that you are looking for the best care for you instead of blindly following people who are only concerned about their ego. We all have to look out for our well-being.
What does God have in store for each one of us? That I cannot answer because God has a unique and special plan for each one of us. Jeremiah 29:11 states "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." We also need to know that each one of us is uniquely and wonderfully made by God to serve a purpose that He has for us.
I understand that life is not easy, it’s not supposed to be. You don't learn anything if you know everything already. It is through pain and mistakes that we learn. We have heard it said that God doesn't give you what you can't handle. I say that saying is rubbish. The saying should be that God helps you handle what you are given. He helps you learn. He is right there alongside you in your pain and frustration.
Talk with God. Explain your frustration. Ask for wisdom and guidance. Ask God how He is going to use it for His glory. Maybe someone is watching you, looking at where you are getting your strength, where you are getting your hope from. Through all things never give up hope. Man cannot live without hope.
