Where does inspiration come from?
There are times where I cannot think of anything to write. I may read a devotional or something else that may open up my thoughts. I may see a phrase or subject, when reading books or devotions that may lead to my mind go wandering about a topic.
There are times when we may need inspiration, and we need to be open to many different types of inspiration. We can be inspired by music, movies, radio programs, artwork, people we watch or know, watching animals or other things.
Jeff Foxworthy, who is a comedian that did “you might be a redneck if…,” had ways of making so many people laugh. When asked where he came up with his material, he simply stated that he looked at his life and his family and friends.
Musicians, artists, authors, ministers, architects, even car designers, fashion designers and so many professionals get inspired by many sources. Did you know that the flip phone was inspired by the communicators from the television show Star Trek?
Have you ever thought how certain tools or businesses were inspired? It must have been interesting to see the thought process of Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Milton Hershey, the inventor of ice cream or Cairns. Where did First Deputy Chief Hugh Halligan get the inspiration to create his rescue tool, that so many people have imitated?
We may think of so many things that do not exist. Find a need and fill it or we can see something and see a way to improve it. Where would we be without Henry Ford?
What about Isaac Newton be inspired by an apple falling, to inspire him to investigate gravity more?
What have you been thinking of that you have not dared to make or get patented or published? Where did the idea for the first ambulance come from? Yes, the answers are out there, and it is easy to find many different histories. Please whatever you do, do not just trust what you find on the internet. Trust the actual printed books, which cannot be changes in a whim.
God gives us gifts and talents and each a different inspiration. Are you leaning into your true gifts or the talent that may need to be developed?
If we do not develop our skills or talents or develop the ideas that God gives us, we are not only cheating God on what He has given to us, but we may be doing a disservice to humanity.
Lean into what comes into your mind, the thing that wakes you up in the middle of the night.
If someone did not lean into their gifts, talents, or ideas, we would not have the computer, telephone, medicines, therapies, music, electricity, the wheel, or anything.
I have a letter from Robert Schuller, which states that God does not give someone a dream without giving the skills to accomplish the dream. It all depends on what we choose to do with that dream and if we give up.
Be inspired and do something with it.
Stay safe,
