Photo by ProvidedPATERSON, NJ - Recently retired Paterson FD Battalion Chief Robert Poloniak passed away on May 27, 2021. Born in Passaic, Robert was a firefighter with West Paterson Engine 3 when he joined the volunteer department back in 1975, where he became a lieutenant. Later, he was hired by the Clifton FD where he served for 5 years before transferring to the Paterson FD, working there for 25 years before retiring as Battalion Chief 4 ½ years ago. He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Association, a member of the FMBA, and an exempt member of the West Paterson FD. Bob was a well liked and very proficient firefighter whose life was dedicated to the fire service.
