Retired and active members of the City of Newburgh Fire Department gathered at Engine Three firehouse on Broadway Saturday, January 4th. The Hudson Valley Regional Pipes and Drums Band were also present. At 0730 Hours, everyone was called to attention and Newburgh dispatch announced, "After 20 years with the Newburgh Fire Department, we wish Lt. Joseph Stankiewicz best wishes with his retirement." The band started playing and Joe walked down between the members. When the music was done, Joe gave one last salute to his members and friends that had gathered for his send off. He then shook everyone's hand as they wished him luck.
