Firefighters used step chocks and cribbing to stabilize the car as they lifted with the spreaders and TL-9.
At 11:18 AM on Friday 6/28/19 Norwich's Engine 3 and Squad A were dispatched to Avery Street for a report of a person trapped under a vehicle. Upon arrival, companies discovered a patient that was working on a vehicle in the roadway and the vehicle had shifted pinning him underneath. Crews utilized the extrication equipment with the TL-9 device to lift the vehicle. The patient was removed within 5 minutes and care was transferred to American Ambulance. The TL-9 is a piece of stabilizing equipment designed by T and J Rescue Enterprises, LLC to maximize the surface area in contact with the ground when using the hydraulic rescue tools to perform a rapid vertical lift of a vehicle to remove a pinned patient. The use of this device assisted members with quickly removing the injured patient.
