Support OVFD just by eating!

Eat in or take out

Prime 16 Tap House & Burgers
464 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477

A local restaurant has arranged a way for Orange-area residents to contribute to the Orange Volunteer Fire Department just by having dinner.

Prime 16, 464 Boston Post Road, has set Dec. 15 aside a special day for supporters of Orange firefighters. The restaurant says it will donate 20 percent of the orders that day to the Fire Department. Orders can include food eaten in the restaurant or picked up as take-out. Diners must tell the order-taker that they are participating in the Orange Fire Department program.

“We appreciate Prime 16’s gesture,” said Orange Fire Chief Vaughan Dumas. “This is a great way to make a contribution to the fire department, take a night off from cooking and support a local restaurant.”

Those who wish to participate can go to Prime 16 or call them at (203) 553-9616. Diners should mention that they’re supporting the Orange Volunteer Fire Department. Sales tax and alcohol sales don’t count toward the total.

Pike County Emergency Management - Upcoming EMT class
August 3, 2020 January 16, 2021 Lords Valley, PA

Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Boulevard, Lords Valley

The Pike County Training Center will offer an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course from August 3, 2020 through January 16, 2021, with most classes held on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The cost is $650 per student, with no charge for Pike County responders who belong to an agency.

Individuals seeking to become a member of a local agency may be eligible for scholarship assistance through the Pike County Emergency Services Initiative Fund administered by the Greater Pike Community Foundation (GPCF). This fund was made possible by founding gifts from the law firm of Weinstein, Zimmerman & Ohliger; William Lovejoy; and individuals who generously supported the recent NEPA Gives day of philanthropy. Gifts to the fund can be made online at www.greaterpike.org or checks can be made payable to GPCF/PCESI and mailed to P.O. Box 992, Milford, PA 18337.

"This course is a good opportunity for someone who has been considering becoming an EMT to sign up now. Hopefully, the scholarships available from the Pike County Emergency Services Initiative Fund (PCESI) will attract new volunteers and create a stronger support network of emergency responders at a time when these services are particularly important in our County," says GPCF Executive Director, Jennifer Hamill.

The upcoming EMT course will include 189 hours of training covering segments including: Foundation, Medical, Trauma, Capstone, and National Preparation. Maximum class size is 20.

Registration and orientation is Monday, August 3, at 6:30 p.m., at the Pike County Training Center, located at 135 Pike County Boulevard, in Lords Valley. The full course schedule can be obtained by emailing Director of Operations Jordan Wisniewski at jwisniewski@pikepa.org.
