Salem, NH – November 11 — Located at 314 Main Street, Sandown Fire Rescue observed Veterans Day like towns across the country. In 1919, the holiday was established as Armistice Day to commemorate the conclusion of World War I. In 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day in remembrance of everyone who has served in the US military. Many veterans of the armed forces continue to serve their communities as firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and rescue workers, contributing their crisis-response and teamwork abilities to emergency operations.

Sandown Fire Rescue would like to express its gratitude to all veterans, including those who are currently employed by the department. Every November 11, when communities take a moment to honour veterans for their service and dedication to defending the country, their continued commitment reflects the ideals acknowledged.
