Chester, NH — November 17 — In order to support actual fireground performance, firefighters from the Chester Fire Department, located at 27 Murphy Drive, finished a fire-related physical fitness training program. Crews completed a six-station drill that replicated actions they might encounter in a structure fire, including navigating in confined spaces, lifting equipment, carrying weight, and climbing barriers. Members were able to practice controlled breathing and endurance under air while performing all activities while donning Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Enhancing strength, coordination, and comfort while wearing complete gear were the main goals of the training. As firemen supported one another throughout the course, it also reaffirmed the importance of collaboration.
