Hudson, NH — November 25 — After seeing a fire behind an adjacent commercial building, an off-duty firefighter from the Hudson N.H. Fire Department assisted in the evacuation of employees from an office building in Bedford. Chris Pervere, a firefighter and paramedic, noticed a column of smoke emerging from the back of the building while he was driving on Route 101. When he paused to look around, he saw an active fire in an area of the property that was not being used.
In order to alert individuals inside and make sure they were departing the area safely, Perverse promptly turned on the fire alarm system and went into the adjacent occupied space. Prior to the arrival of response workers, his prompt action decreased potential risk. The leadership of Hudson Fire observed that when an emergency arises in the community, firefighters use their training to stay vigilant about potential threats both on and off duty.
