At the Danbury Fire Training Facility on Plumtrees Road, career firefighters from the Danbury Fire Department finished their yearly training on October 27 and 30. Chief Thode, Deputy Chief Shawn McGee, and Administrative Manager Tracy Steneken led class sessions at the start of the week, giving updates on newly installed software and equipment. First responder attorney Christopher Sochacki of Cramer & Anderson LLP provided instruction on record writing and documentation duties.

Following the classroom portion, crews rotated through practical scenarios in the drill yard. The new burn building was used for fire attack, search and rescue, and forcible entry drills. The original training structure was set up with a simulated collapse in the basement, where firefighters had ten minutes to locate a trapped manikin, provide emergency air, and bring the victim to safety.

The Danbury Fire Department stated that realistic hands-on training helps sharpen skills, enhance teamwork, and maintain readiness to respond when the community calls.
