Silo situations involve sophisticated, technological activities that necessitate close coordination among responders. Because there are presently no official silo-rescue courses available in New York State, both teams used the simulation to practice the methods and equipment required for a safe rescue from an agricultural structure. While neither agency is designated as a silo rescue team, members obtained vital knowledge about the issues involved and how they would handle such a call if necessary.
