KEENE, NH — November 22 — Keene IAFF Local 3265's professional firefighters are for the value of four-person engine crews. Four-person staffing helps firefighters finish critical duties on the fireground more quickly, including as lengthening lines, looking for occupants, and guaranteeing quick backup for teams inside a structure, according to national fire service research. Delays could put residents and responders at greater risk with smaller crews. In order to keep up with the increasing variety of situations they face, many departments across have shifted towards adhering to minimal staffing standards. Members of Local 3265 observe that having enough workers on hand for each shift promotes firefighter health, property protection, and life safety. The community depends on crews being able to respond promptly with the appropriate number of qualified personnel when a call comes in.
