ALSTEAD, NH — November 23 — Alstead Fire and Rescue personnel practiced in a controlled brush pile burn near the town transfer station. While operating in full SCBA, crews concentrated on hose line progress, gaining confidence in air management and mobility over rough terrain. Officers emphasized the use of safe approach methods and communication during outdoor fires. A new junior participant attended the exercise as well, participating in his first practical fire training under the careful supervision of seasoned firemen. In the area, brush and wildland response is still frequently required, particularly during dry seasons and storm cleanup times. In order to remain ready for local responses and mutual aid assistance to neighboring communities, the department continues to train throughout the year.
