Scranton, Pa. — October 28 — Scranton Firefighters visited a number of municipal schools as part of their hectic Fire Prevention Month campaign. During its final shift, Engine 7 met with a group of schoolchildren on the West Side, where firefighters demonstrated the department's equipment and went over fundamental safety procedures. Additionally, the "Pride of West Side" gear was shown to the students, who also learnt how firefighters use their tools in an emergency.
The visit was a component of a month-long initiative to provide age-appropriate fire safety instruction in Scranton classrooms. Firefighters have started visiting schools to assist young pupils in learning about emergency protocols and the function of the local fire department.
