On Saturday, October 22, shortly after 9 a.m., Ladder 11 from the Adamstown Fire Company was dispatched as part of an automatic aid assignment to assist Cumru Township Fire Station 42 with a reported chimney fire involving possible extension.
Upon arrival, the Ladder 11 crew split responsibilities to support operations. One team ascended to the roof to assist Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services with accessing the upper portion of the structure and evaluating fire spread. Meanwhile, the remaining firefighters reported to manpower staging before being assigned to Division 1, where they assisted interior crews with removing the fire box to reach the chimney damper and extinguish burning materials within the flue.
Thanks to coordinated efforts among all responding agencies, the fire was brought under control without further extension.
