One hundred years ago today, on October 1, 1925, a fire at the Loves store in downtown Rices Landing set in motion the creation of what would soon become the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department. In the days that followed, the community came together, formally organizing the department on October 6, 1925, laying the foundation for a century of service and dedication.
This historic blaze also marked the very first official call for the newly formed Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department, forging a connection between neighboring companies that continues to this day.
As we reflect on this anniversary, we honor the generations of volunteers whose commitment has protected Rices Landing for the past century.
