Egg Harbor Township, N.J. — October 23, 2025 —Members of the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company #1 took part in a company-level chimney fire drill. This drill aimed to prepare firefighters for seasonal residential incidents.

The session started with a classroom presentation about chimney fire behavior and control methods. This was followed by hands-on practice using the department’s chimney fire chain kit. This tool helps scrape creosote and debris from the inside of chimneys. Captain J.J. Fricano led the training, overseeing both the lecture and the practical exercises. Participants reviewed safe operating procedures, equipment setup, and tactical strategies for reducing property damage while putting out chimney fires.
