HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Fire Department recently added a unique addition to its fleet. The department's new Booster Truck arrived last week and will be assigned to Station 32. This truck was designed by HFD's Apparatus Committee and Skeeter brush trucks out of Hillsboro, TX. What makes this truck unique is it multi-purpose capabilities. The primary purpose of a regular Booster is to put out small fires and/or respond to grass fires. This new unit can function as a Booster Truck and a high water evacuation vehicle. This is the first vehicle of its kind for the HFD and surrounding areas. This unit can transform from a firefighting vehicle to an evacuation vehicle in about 5 minutes and can seat more than 10 people at a time. The flexibility in design allows this vehicle to be utilized in more situations than previous booster trucks have been capable of handling.
