Amsterdam, N.Y. — October 30 — The Amsterdam Fire Department welcomed four kindergarten classes from McNulty School for a visit this week. Students had the opportunity to meet firefighters, explore apparatus, and learn about the equipment used in daily emergency operations.

Firefighters and police officers explained their roles in keeping the community safe and answered a range of questions from the children. The visit also introduced the basics of fire safety, including what to do during an emergency and the importance of recognizing first responders.
