West Leyden, N.Y. — October 7 — Members of the West Leyden Volunteer Fire Department participated in a grain bin rescue training hosted by the 3-G Fire Department. The session, coordinated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Lewis County, focused on improving response techniques for agricultural emergencies involving grain entrapment.

Firefighters received both classroom instruction and practical demonstrations using specialized rescue equipment designed for grain storage incidents. The training emphasized hazard awareness, safe entry procedures, and coordination among responding agencies.
