Middle Island, NY - Just before midnight on October 20th, a single-car accident on Rocky Point Road, just north of Whiskey Road in Middle Island, took the life of the driver after the vehicle left the roadway. Firefighters and Police arrived to find a fully engulfed car that had crashed head-on into a tree, with the driver still inside. Firefighters extinguished the blaze as quicky as possible, but it was unfortunately too late to save the driver. SCPD 6th Squad detectives and crime scene units responded to investigate the crash.
