Car Smashes Through Pole in Whitman

WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 2230 hours on the evening of Monday, October 10, 2022 (Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day) the Whitman Fire Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of 536 South Avenue. Whitman Car-3, Engine-243 and Ambulance-248 responded.
Companies arrived to find a single vehicle accident with a pole split in half. The vehicle was several houses up from the initial crash location. The vehicle lost its passenger side front tire during the crash. The lone victim of the crash was transported to the South Shore Hospital trauma center.
Whitman Police, with the assistance of the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department BCI unit, is investigating the cause of the crash. No other injuries were reported. National Grid worked on-scene through the night to repair the damaged pole. As a result, South Avenue was closed to traffic for the rest of the evening.
