FARMINGVILLE, NY - A call for a residential fire on Woodycrest Dr. sent firefighters to work around 1:00 A.M. on Sunday morning, October 3rd.
On arrival firefighters were met with a fully engulfed house fire and fully involved SUV in the driveway. As crews began working an electrical wire fell into a puddle of water, sending electrical currents through the ground, injuring several firefighters working in close proximity. The injured firefighters were treated on scene, except for two that were transported for evaluation.
As the fire raged on, mutual aid requests went out to Selden, Holtsville, Medford, Centereach, N. Patchogue, Holbrook and Middle Island. The fire, which was knocked down about 40 minutes later, completely destroyed the home and SUV. No further injuries were reported.
