Residential Structure Fire

El Cajon - At 3:23 A.M. Saturday morning, September 19th, the Heartland Fire & Rescue crews from El Cajon, assisted by crews from Santee Fire, San Diego Fire, Lakeside Fire and San Miguel Fire, were dispatched to reports of a structure on fire in the 1700 block of Hacienda Dr. in El Cajon. Fire crews arrived within 8 minutes to discover a one story single family dwelling completely involved with fire. Due to the heavy fire present, a second alarm was called for, bringing an additional four engines, ladder truck, and chief officer. Crews were able to control the fire within 30 minutes, with no extension to any nearby residences. One elderly male was discovered in the backyard of the house with mild injuries and was transported to the hospital, as well as one other person for smoke inhalation. Red Cross was called in to assist eight adults that were displaced.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by El Cajon Police Department and Sheriff Bomb & Arson. There were no firefighter injuries reported. The house was a total loss. Estimated damage for the structure and contents is estimated at $1,000,000.
