At 4:05 pm on Saturday, 6/4/2022 the Norwich Fire Department was dispatched to 378 Central Avenue for a house fire. Engine 2 arrived at 4:08 with fire showing from the rear of a 2.5 story wood frame. The crew stretched an 1.75” hose line down the Delta side to the rear where the fire was licking into the eaves.
Engine 2 had their own hydrant in front of the building, so Squad A stretched the second line. Engine 3 did the primary search and opened up the interior checking for extension on the second and third floor. Truck 1 prepared for vertical ventilation but luckily was not needed.
Taftville Tower 25, Yantic Engine 33, Laurel Hill Engine 62 and East Great Plain Rescue 5 staged on Central Avenue and covered the city. The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
