Injured Woman Assisted from Roof in Reading

Reading, PA - During the evening of Wednesday, May 13th, officers from the Reading Police Department were operating at 1538 Mineral Spring Road. During the incident, an elderly woman had suffered a compound fracture of the arm. With conditions inside the dwelling being very poor, the decision was made to remove the woman from a second-floor roof in the rear of the home. A rescue assignment was requested to assist with extrication. Firefighters arrived under the command of Deputy Chief Tom Rehr (C8) and assessed the situation. A stokes basket was used with a ladder and a quick rope system to remove the woman. EMS transported the stable patient to Reading Hospital 20 minutes later.
