ASTON, PA - The Box Alarm was sent to the Stuart Drive unit block just before 10:00 p.m. on April 15th due to a reported domestic fire, which was first thought to be in a shed at the back of the property.
When the Aston Township Fire Department's first units arrived, they began operations using their own water supply and discovered that the fire had already been put out. Because of the possibility of re-ignition, crews confirmed that the incident involved a shed fire that contained lithium-ion batteries, raising further safety concerns.
The assignment was reduced to Station 17 units, and the Delaware County Hazmat representative, FM-81, and Brookhaven Fire Company Squad 52 were informed. To make sure the area was secure and risks were reduced, units stayed on scene for a little more than an hour.
