Unattended Cooking Triggers Smoke Condition at Sandpiper Condominiums

Mays Landing, - Laureldale Fire Rescue, alongside Mays Landing Fire Department, responded to a reported fire alarm with an odor of smoke at the Sandpiper Condominiums under Call #26-0159.
Upon arrival, first-due crews confirmed smoke showing from the second floor with no response at the door. With assistance from the Township of Hamilton Police Department, firefighters made entry into the residence to investigate.
Crews quickly located the source of the smoke as a pot left burning on the stove. The stove was shut off, and the pot was safely removed. Firefighters then conducted ventilation operations to clear smoke from the residence.
Once conditions improved, the alarm system was reset and all responding units were placed back in service without further incident.
