Chambersburg, PA — April 9th — Just before 8 p.m., Franklin Fire Company units responded to a reported house fire in the 600 block of South Second Street. Engine A fire involving a window-mounted air conditioner was put out when 1-2 from McKinley Street arrived with smoke visible and swiftly extended a line. Extension into the structure was a concern, according to Lieutenant Myers.

In order to perform a thorough primary search and verify that the house had been evacuated, Squad 41 workers divided up their duties. While workers spread out around the window area, Ladder 42 reached the back alley and positioned the aerial to the roof. No fire extension past the framing was established by inspection.

Units evacuated the site in around 45 minutes after the incident was swiftly brought under control.
